Working to Protect the Siskiyou Crest

The Siskiyou Crest is a regionally significant habitat connectivity corridor linking the Coast Ranges to the Cascade Mountains along the Oregon-California border.

The Siskiyou Crest Coalition is a grassroots collaboration of residents, rural property owners, farmers, and representatives of nonprofit organizations, all dedicated to the conservation of the natural environment of the Siskiyou Crest region.

What makes the Siskiyou Crest region so significant?

As a transverse range (the only mountain range running primarily east to west in the Pacific Northwest), the Siskiyou Crest acts as a land bridge connecting major mountain ranges and ecosystems, with influences from six biotic regions: Cascade Mountains, Coast Range, Willamette Valley, Great Basin, Central Valley, and Sierra Nevada. By bringing together these diverse ecosystems, a mosaic of habitats blend together, creating a rich tapestry of environments, unique plant communities, and a multitude of rare and endemic species found nowhere else on earth. We invite you to explore this little-known but important region.
